SIDE BY SIDE MUSICAL EQUIPMENT

Side by Side has all necessary musical equipment for any special event. We are totally self-contained. The only request we present to clients is for a three-prong electrical power source within reasonable proximity of the area where we are to set up our equimpment. We have all necessary speakers, amplifiers, keyboards, chairs, and other accessories to be totally self-sufficient. Naturally the more equipment we are required to bring (e.g. to perform in a large room for several hundred people), the more we need to add to our fee.

John has several keyboards, most of which are very sophisticated, containing sequencing ability (pre-programmed musical tracks that John and Karen perform along with), built in rhythms of every imaginable type, and thousands of sounds from traditional instruments to the latest rhythmic and instrumental sounds of today.

In addition, Side by Side owns a "real" grand piano. Actually it is and it isn't. We bought a real grand piano and had the strings and keyboard mechanism (i.e. hammers, etc.) removed, leaving the inside of the piano wide open to place digital keyboards and other electronics inside. This gives us the ability to have the latest keyboards with authentic grand piano sounds, and a vast array of additional sounds, far beyond a conventional piano, available for our performances, while appearing to our audiences to be playing a real grand piano. From the point of view of our clients, the appearance of the piano is indistinguishable from a real grand piano, but we can transport it more readily, and utilize digital keyboards of our choice. But we don't lose any of the elegant look of a fine instrument, which is a far more pleasing sight than having one or more electric keyboards sitting on simple keyboard stands with wires showing, and so on. The digital keyboards placed inside the grand piano shell never require tuning, and as mentioned before, have a vast assortment of different sonic capabilities. We strongly prefer to bring this piano to steady engagements rather than private parties, because, although lighter than a real grand, it still requires special piano-moving equipment to move it without causing damage. As always, we invite you to consult with us regarding pricing.
